The Department of Biochemistry organized a Webinar on 19.07.2020 at 10.00AM over Google meet on the topic “Career Prospects in Life Science”. It was an experience sharing webinar presented by prominent Alumni of Biochemistry. Mr. Abraham David, B.Sc., PG Dip in Medical Coding & SAS., Senior Operations Analyst, Athena Health Technologies, Pvt., Ltd, Perungudi and an Alumnus of Department of Biochemistry from the year of 2012 – 2015 and Mr. Amarnath Karna, another Alumnus from the year of 2011-2014 doing research at Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Noida Campus were the Resource Persons of the Programme.
The Webinar with the permission of the Principal, Dr. R. Vasudevaraj started with a welcome address by Dr.B.Arirudran, Assistant Professor and Head i/c of Biochemistry. He handed over the presentation session to the Alumni. Mr. Abraham David and Mr. Amarnath Karna delivered an excellent speech for nearly an hour. The Webinar also had a Question Session where many participants’ questions and doubts were answered and cleared by the Alumnus. The presentation was highly useful and appreciated by the participants as it focused on the Career Prospects in Life Sciences, especially for the final year students who were searching jobs and were not able decide their higher studies in India and abroad. The Vote of thanks of the Programme was delivered by Dr. S. Jayakumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry. Faculty, Students and Scholars from our College as well as from other Colleges actively participated in the Webinar. Out of the 200 registered Candidates, around 170 participants from in and around Chennai participated in it. The Webinar was coordinated by Dr. R. Aruna, Assistant Professor, and Department of Biochemistry. The Webinar ended around 11.20am with gratitude from the participants. Participation Certificates were issued to all the active participants of the Webinar. Webinar’s theme “Career Prospects in Life Sciences” focused on guiding and helping the final year students of life science courses to choose their higher education wisely. It is a Novel Programme that advised the Life Science students about how to get or utilise the Job Opportunity in Indian and abroad. The programme was organized to help the students to tackle the present unemployment situation and to create awareness among the students who are lagging behind to meet the requirement of the industry and the society in creating Strong Nation
