SRM Arts and Science College, Affiliated to the University of Madras is a division of Sri Ramaswamy Memorial Group (SRM Group) of Educational Institutions for higher education. It functions under the aegis of Valliammai Educational Society since 1993. The Society was founded in the year 1975 by Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, Honorable Member of Parliament, celebrated teacher and educationist, to promote higher education. Having developed the concept for true education and intellectual integrity, the SRM Group focuses on providing World-Class Education with outstanding infrastructure.

Scholarships for the Students:
Students of the college who are Eligible under the following categories may apply for the Scholarship in person in the College.
- SC/ST students
- BC/MBC students – only for Government Quota
- Minority scholarship for Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhist, Parsis , Jains and other eligible Students may Log on to www.scholarship.gov.in to avail the scholarship.

The placement cell also coordinates various activities related to the career growth of the students by conducting programs on “Personality development”, “Interpersonal & communication skills” and “Career planning” and “career mapping”. A consistent placement record has been maintained since its inception, 94% of Eligible Candidates are placed consecutively for the past one decade with more than 30 multinational companies offering job opportunities for students in various sectors like, Information Technology, Banking and Financial, Life Science, Manufacturing, Advertising agencies, BPOs, KPOs, NGOs etc.
Hostel admission form is available in the Hostel Office. There are two separate hostels for boys and girls students accommodating about 1200 students.
All the hostels have:
- Necessary infrastructure and modern kitchen
- The inmates are provided with a cot, a chair and a table
- There is a cooperative store and Super market available in the hostel, for everyday needs
- Wi-Fi Internet Connection

The College has spacious and fully equipped library with more than 35088 volumes of books covering all major fields of science and humanities. It is fully computerized which enables the students and the faculty to avail the documents and sources without any difficult. It has multimedia, Internet, Reprography, Back volumes, Projects and CD-ROM collections and separate reference section facility for the staff and the students. Book Bank facility for deserving candidates if also being maintained.
- Air Conditioned buses are operated connecting almost all parts of the city and suburban for the convenience of the students and the faculty.
