The Department of Biochemistry organized a Christmas Day Celebration on 23.12.2021. The programme started with the permission of our college Principal Dr.R.Vasudevaraj and Vice Principal Professor K.Mathiyazhagan SRM Arts and Science College, Kattankulathur. Department of Biochemistry students and faculty members actively participated in the event.

In our Department, Room No. 406 is allocated for Christmas celebrations. Students decorated the room beautifully with glitters and lights. The cradle/crib and a Christmas tree is created by our department students. The programme started at 11.00 AM with a welcome address by final year student Ms. Anusha from II M.Sc. Biochemistry, Carol Songs performed by the III B.Sc. Biochemistry students especially Ms. Jacqueline and Mr. Joel Kingsley. Followed by a keynote address delivered by Dr.B.Arirudran, Head, Department of Biochemistry. In his speech he shared the speciality of Christmas Day Celebration, especially about the birth of Jesus Christ, Christmas tree, and Santa Claus. Christmas is loved by children since they receive gifts from Santa Claus.

Special speech by Dr.G.Duraimuthumani about sharing love, joy among the students. A Santa Claus paraded through the corridor to the classroom, cheering the gatherings and singing Christmas songs of Christmas, distributing small gifts and handshakes. At the end of the program, cakes were distributed to all the students and staff members. This programme was organized in the Department as a part of sharing love, joy, and happiness among students and also secularism. Through this Christmas day celebration, we can create a United India by creating students with unity across caste, religion, and race.
