Health Awareness Programme

The Department of Biochemistry organized a ‘Health Awareness Programme’ on 30^th August 2024 at Government Higher Secondary School, Maraimalai Nagar, Chengalpet District. This One-day Awareness Programme was inaugurated by Dr. R. Vasudevaraj, Principal, SRM Arts and Science College. Faculty and 35 student volunteers from the Department dedicatedly took part in the programme to educate the students and make them aware of how to take proper care of their health.

Dr. S. Jayakumar, Head of the Department formed four groups of volunteers and directed them to convey the health awareness messages and preventive measures to the 150 higher secondary students. As part of this Programme, pamphlets with health awareness tips and solutions were also issued to the higher secondary students. Two Teams among the four went to each class in the school and advised the students to attend the Programme for the healthy life of their young generation. The higher secondary students of the school eagerly attended the health awareness camp. The height, weight, major biochemical parameters such as blood glucose, urine glucose, blood pressure and BMI were checked for the students in the camp. On evaluating their biochemical results, the students gained knowledge about their health condition. The cooperation of the students was highly appreciable and the camp received an overwhelming response at the school.

The Success of this programme encouraged the students to organize more camps like this to expose their social responsibility and to serve the public to make our Nation Healthy and Strong.
