About Event
The College celebrated Margazhi Paavai from 8th to 10th January 2024 at Valliammi Hall. The event marked a three days of cultural and spiritual significance on the Campus. Traditionally, the month of Margazhi i.e., from December-January, is celebrated with music festivals aimed at showcasing young talents in various fields of fine arts. This festive season is also renowned for the recitation of Thiruppaavai and Thiruvempaavai. The event commenced with a warm welcome by Mr. M. K. Vijayaraghavan, Head of the Department of Other Languages. Dr. R. Vasudavaraj, Principal, gave a special address and lit the Kuthu Vilakku. Prof. K. Mathiyazhagan, the Vice Principal of the College delivered the felicitation address.
The Fine Arts Club of the College showcased their talents through mesmerizing vocal and Bharatanatyam performances on 8th January 2024. Dr. V. C. Govindarajan, Principal of Vidyasagar Global School, Chengalpet, delivered a captivating Upanyasam titled Poomaliyum Paamalaiyum on 9th January 2024. The final day i.e.,10th January 2024, featured Nritya Sangamam, a spellbinding dance performance by the students of Sruthi Natyalaya, Velachery, led by Guru Sri Murugesh and his son, Dr. Surya Murugesh, an alumnus of the college. Each day began with the recitation of the day’s specific Thiruppaavai Pasuram and Thiruvempaavai, accompanied by insightful explanations.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the dedication and involvement of the Organizing Committee members, which contributed significantly to the grand success of the event.
