State-of-the-art laboratories give students a deeper insight into the science of Microbiology. The department has spacious labs equipped with 70 modern microscopes, shaker-cum-incubators, a UV-VIS spectrophotometer, electrophoresis units, various centrifuges, deep freezers and 4 Laminar Air Flow chambers, plus a separate molecular biology lab with the latest equipment — providing an excellent environment for UG and PG project work.
UV-VIS Spectrophotometer — PG students analysing DNA samples; measures concentration of protein, DNA/RNA and bacterial growth.Laboratory Shaker — orbital shaker (25-500 rpm) for uniform microbial growth, washing blots and mixing.Binocular Microscope (Magnus MLX-plus) — students preparing fungal slides to identify organisms.Inoculation Chamber — inoculating bacterial culture on media under aseptic conditions.Shaker Incubator (Remi RIS-24 plus) — aerates and agitates cultures at optimal temperature and RPM.PG Lab Inoculation Chamber — pouring fungal media under Laminar Air Flow with UV germicidal light.General Lab — staining technique demonstration; observing bacterial cells under a Bright Field Microscope.Store Room — stocked with chemicals, culture media, staining reagents and glassware for UG & PG practicals.Cooling Centrifuge (Remi) — separates fluid components at low temperature for effective DNA extraction.Hot Air Oven — sterilising glassware at 160°C for 1½–2 hours.
