Basics of Bioinformatics Tools

Department of Biochemistry organized a one day Hands-on Workshop on “Basics of Bioinformatics tools” on 17^th Aug 2023. The workshop was aimed to motivate the budding researchers in innovative novel drug discovery. Ms. A. K. Ramya, Veridian Micro Lab Pvt. Ltd., Kelambakkam was the resource person and demonstrated how to download and install the Auto Dock, Chimera software’s in C-drive. She explained the importance of basics of bioinformatics tools which are available in open sources such as Auto Dock, Pymol, Pubchem & RCSB etc. she also explained how to search and download the protein 3D files & Ligands etc., in RCSB and Pubchem respectively. The students were trained to run the molecular docking using Auto Dock. Prof. K. Mathiyazhagan, Vice-Principal addressed the students of different disciplines and felicitated the resource person. Dr. S. Jayakumar, Head, Department of Biochemistry introduced the resource person. Totally 88 students were trained during the event. The workshop was beneficial to the students of different disciplines.
