Beat Plastic Pollution for Plastic Free Future

On 20.09.2019, Department Association – Bionnium activity was conducted in the Department of Biochemistry. This activity was held at the seminar hall of SRMASC and all the students of our department (200 students) took part along with 10 faculty members of our department. The splendid event was started with the invocation song. To augment the involvement of students and to create awareness in the area under discussion, events were conducted on the topic entitiled “BEAT THE PLASTIC POLLUTION FOR PLASTIC FREE FUTURE”. To fulfill the concept of the bionnium activity, students have showcased their talents in an innovative way by actively performing in the events namely e-posters, poster presentation and skits. The judges appreciated the events a lot and guided with their inspirational words. Mrs. A. Thenmozhi – Head, Department of Biochemistry gave a talk on the topic to create awareness among all the students.  It was followed by the announcement of the winners. Students bagged many prizes and it was followed by a formal vote of thanks. The programme concluded with a sincere hope that it has created awareness about the plastic pollution, health hazards due to plastic waste which not only affects human being but also other land animals and marine animals, decomposition of plastics using microorganisms and importance of plastic free future. It’s very certain this topic enlighten the mind of younger generation for healthy living.
