Fostering Emotional Intelligence through Literature

The Departments of Other languages arranged a Guest Lecture on “Fostering Emotional Intelligence through  Literature” on 15^th September 2023 at Vendhar Hall. The lecture was aimed at teaching the students how the Emotional Intelligence plays  an important role in one’s day- to-day life. The Lecture also aimed to stress how Literature is fostering emotional intelligence by providing vicarious emotional experiences that shapes the brain circuits for empathy and help everyone to gain insight into human behavior.
Dr. P.B.Vaneetha, Dean, Sri Kanyaka Parameshwari Arts and Science College for Women was the invited Guest to deliver the lecture.
Mr. M. K. Vijayaraghavan, Head, Department of Other Languages, welcomed the gathering. Prof.K.Mathiyazhagan, Vice Principal, delivered the felicitation address and also honored the guest with a memento.  Mrs. N. Uma Maheswari , Assistant Professor of French introduced the Chief Guest.
The lecture given by the guest created an interest  among the students in learning about the “Emotional Intelligence” and other thought provoking ideas pertaining to the theme.
The Guest also taught the students about how studying literature helps the readers to tackle hard situations in their lives.
Ms.Shania Ann Thomas of B.Sc Microbiology delivered the vote of thanks. One hundred and five students of various disciplines attended the programme. The programme ended with the National Anthem.
