SRM Arts and Science College, department of Microbiology, has organized an industrial visit on 17/3/2023 to Pasteur Institute, Coonoor. The visit was organized by Head of the Department Dr. O.V. Ravi Kumar, the coordinators of the industrial visit were Dr. N. Prabha and Mrs. S. Ashwini. A total of 55 students (32 UG students & 23 PG students) with 3 faculty member visited one of the leading Institute in the production of Anti-Rabies Vaccine and DPT Group of Vaccines for the Expanded Programme of Immunization of Govt. of India. The institute produces DTP group of vaccines and it also developing cost effective vaccines under advanced service. This visit was mainly focused on to understand the procedures involved in vaccine production, the technology and the equipment’s used.  Ms. Kaviya, Project Leader there explained about the facilities available inside the center, the equipment’s used for the vaccine production, components and their storage methods. She also explained about the maintenance of the equipment and ethics considered during vaccine production. During this session, students interacted with the Project leader very effectively. This trip was highly useful for the students in terms of practical knowledge about the institute process control and safety. This trip will also be helpful for them to find placement opportunities in such institutes. We thank full to the Principal and Vice Principal for permitting for the Industrial visit.
