Youth Red Cross and Environmental Club of SRM Arts and Science College jointly organized an Awareness Programme on National Pollution Control Day on 06th December 2022 at 12:30 pm in Vendhar Hall to motivate and give awareness to the students and staff members about pollution and climate change.

Prof. K. Mathiyazhagan, Vice-Principal presided the programme. The programme started with Tamil Thai Vazhthu followed by the screening of an awareness documentary video about Bhopal tragedy for about 30 minutes. Dr. M. Yuvaraj, Coordinator Youth Red Cross of the college explained in detail what happened on December 2nd, 1984, midnight in Bhopal and why the Government of India declared December 2nd as National Pollution control Day that is observed every year in our country.

 An awareness was created to the students about the importance of controlling soil, water, and air pollutions. The importance of plantation of 24 hours oxygen yielding plants and trees was explained to the student community. Pledge was also taken by both the staff members and the students to control any forms of pollution in soil, water, and air. The programme was wounded up with the National Anthem.

As a part of the programme, our Principal, Dr. R. Vasudevaraj, Vice-Principal Prof. K. Mathiyazhagan, Dr. O.V. Ravikumar, Convenor Environmerntal Club and the student of the college planted 24 hours oxygen yielding plants and medicinal plants in the campus.
