The Department of Biochemistry organized an International Webinar on 16.06.2020 at 11:00AM over Google Meet on the topic ‘‘Nutrition Vs Immunity – The Need of the Hour’’. The Resource Person of the Webinar was Mr. M. Balasundaram, M.Sc., M.Sc., M.Phil., Dip. In Sports Nutrition, FSAB, (Consultant Nutritionist – Smart Nutri Care – Chennai), Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, AIMST University, Malaysia.

The Webinar started with the permission from the Principal Dr. R. Vasudevaraj SRM Arts and Science College, Kattankulathur. The Programme begun with a welcome speech by Dr.B.Arirudran,Assistant Professor and Head i/c of Biochemistry. Following that the Presentation Session was handed over to the Guest, Mr. M.Balasundaram, who delivered an excellent speech for nearly an hour. The Webinar also had a Question Session where many participants’ questions and doubts were answered and cleared by the Guest. The speech was highly useful and appreciated by the participants as it focused on awareness of nutrient and health at this Covid–19 pandemic situation where people are really worried of their health and immunity.

The Vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. M. Hemalatha, Assistant Professor Department of Biochemistry. Faculty, Research Scholars, Students and Teachers from our College as well as from other Colleges and Institution were actively participated in this Webinar. Around 440 Candidates registered for the Webinar. Out of them, around 200 participants from all over India and abroad were participated in it. The entire Webinar was coordinated by Dr. R. Aruna, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry. The Webinar ended around 12.30PM with the gratitude from the participants. All the active participants received their participation certificates. Nutrition Vs Immunity, the theme of the Webinar was aimed at educating the public about nutrients particularly in maintaining proper health, necessity for a balanced diet, importance of dietary management, and Nutritional requirements at different stages of life. It also focused on how to strengthen the immunity system to prevent oneself to become a victim to Covid-19.
