The Department of English, SRM Arts and Science College, Kattankulathur celebrated World Poetry Day on 21st March 2022. On the Occasion of celebrating the day, the department along with its faculty members conducted a few Competitions focussing on the theme of poetry day ‘the role of poetry in the survival of ancient languages, in the development of the world, and the enlightenment of the world’. Circular and Invitation in this regard were sent to the students informing them to participate in the competitions. Around 70 students registered for the Competitions.  Mr. K. Siva Sankar, Head, Department of English gave a brief talk about the role of Poetry in preserving the language and culture of the people. Students from various departments of the College enthusiastically took part in the Elocution, Poetry Recitation, Drawing, and Poetry Writing competitions and expressed their thoughts on given themes. Mrs. R. Kalpana and Dr. K. Janagarraj, Assistant Professors of English were the In-charge of the Elocution and Poetry Competition respectively. Mr. A. Nanthakumar, Mr. K. Jagan Babu, Ms. K. Vishnu Priya, and Dr. P. Nehru took the responsibility in helping the students register for the Competitions and giving instructions on each competition. Dr. R. Vasudevaraj, Principal, Prof. K. Mathiyazhagan, Vice Principal, and the Heads of various Departments encouraged the participants during the competitions.
