The department holds its own students’ association which conducts an intercollegiate function “ELOPHIS”. Starting from the year 1998 the department successfully conducts this program every year in the month of January or February. More than 100 participants from various colleges across Tamilnadu participate in various events of the program.

The motto of conducting this event is:

• To inculcate the attitudes like teamwork, leadership skills among the students.
• To bring out the in built the talents within the students.
• To create a friendly relationship between the students of various institutions.

The main highlight of this program is, it is fully planned and hosted by the students with the guidance of the teaching staff. Eminent Personalities like Dr T.N. Seshan (Former CEC) have been the Chief guests of this event. 

The department also conducted a National level  Conference “NCONE” on March 2006 for two days.

Extension Activity

In order to cultivate social responsibility in young mind the department conducts a “Plastic Litter Collection Camp” every year. The day of camp students of our department voluntarily participate in the camp and collect the litter in and around streets of Potheri. The collected litter is given to a disposing unit in Potheri. The students thereby create awareness of avoiding plastics among the public.
