Women’s Empowerment Cell of SRM Arts and Science College celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2022. A seminar on ‘Women’s Rights’ was conducted by the Women’s Empowerment Cell in the Seminar Hall to raise awareness about the status, uniqueness, and greatness of women. Mrs. A. Seethai, Assistant Professor of Electronics and Communication Science, welcomed the Chief Guest and the gathering. Prof. K. Mathiazhagan, Vice Principal in his presidential address stated the role and importance of women in every sphere of life. Dr. R. Vasudevaraj, Principal gave a keynote speech highlighting the women achievers of India and encouraged the women to scale new heights in their lives. Ms. J. Ramadevi, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, SRM Institute of Science and Technology was the Chief Guest of the day. She spoke about the fundamental rights of women in the society and Laws implemented to protect and empower the women of our country. She also motivated the women students to explore the opportunities and face the challenges of everyday situations to be successful. Mrs. S. Sahaya Sugirtha Cinderella, Assistant Professor of Computer Applications proposed the vote of thanks. More than 300 women students and faculty members took part and celebrated Women’s Day. Cultural programmes and literary activities were also conducted as part of the celebration. Dr. J. Umadevi, Assistant professor of commerce is the convenor of Women’s Empowerment Cell to organize the seminar.
