The Department of Biotechnology organized a one day workshop program was on 6th August 2019 by the Department of Biotechnology at SRM Arts and Science College on Electrophoresis techniques. The workshop was conducted in association with Medox Biotech India private ltd., Chennai. Faculties, students of under graduate and Post graduate biotechnology actively participated and learned the principle and working of electrophoresis. Students from biochemistry and microbiology department were also benefitted from attending the workshop. Total number of participants was 145 including students and staffs.
This workshop provides an introduction to gel electrophoresis, including the theory behind electrophoresis and the reagents used in the procedure. Mr. Vignesh, technical expertise of Medox had given one hour lecture on different electrophoresis techniques. This lecture is followed by a lab practical that includes hands-on experience in which participants will have the opportunity to pour gels, load samples, and stain and photograph the gel. Students were trained and learned the techniques and types of Electrophoresis.
